Insurance & Driving Experience
I Have Never Hired Before is it Difficult to Drive and Use a Motorhome?

The short answer is no. Most of our hirers are first time users or those considering buying a motorhome and wanting a tester first. The driving is very easy, all our vehicles are under 3500kg so do not require any special license and the cab is the same as a normal van. Using a motorhome is also straight forward and we include a written guide for each vehicle and 24 hour support should you need help – we recommend using campsites where possible and sticking to them initially if you are a first timer as it makes things easier.

Is Insurance Included?

Yes, UK insurance for one driver is included in our rates.

Adding a second or third driver is an optional extra and EU travel is also available for an extra charge of £40 per day.

Can I Drive a Motorhome on a Normal Driving License? What if I Have Points?

This depends on the weight of the motorhome, all our vehicles are less than 3500KG so you can drive them on a standard license.

If you have 3 or less active endorsements with an SP code then there is no extra charge. If you have 6 points or more there may be a small extra charge per day please contact us. Endorsements with other codes please contact us to let us know when booking.

Can I Take the Vehicle to EIRE/Europe?

UK travel is included in our standard rates. EU travel including EIRE is available as an extra for £40 per day plus £3.50 per day for EU breakdown cover.

Mileage is limited to 200 miles per day. We have a minimum hire period of 7 nights for EU hires.

Do I Need Travel Insurance?

We strongly recommend taking out travel insurance for your hire as you would with any foreign holiday. This will cover you in the event of any cancellation beyond your control or illness so you cannot complete the hire.

What are the Age Restrictions?

Our standard rates apply to drivers aged 25-72. We can accommodate drivers outside this range (usually 22-78) but a small daily charge and higher excess may apply in some cases.

Drivers must have held a valid full UK license for 24 months (or International equivalent).

What's The Damage Excess? Do You Offer a Collison Damage Waiver?

The excess (amount payabale by hirer) is £1200 for any damage. This applies per incident.

We do offer a Collision Damage Waiver we call an “Excess Reducer” for £14 day per day or £12 per day on bookings lasting over 10 nights.

This waiver reduces the excess from £1200 to £150 per incident.

We do recommend having this in place with us or via a 3rd party for any damage.

How Can I Get a Quote?

You can input dates into our booking calendar to get a quote on any of our vehicles. Or you can give us a call to discuss options and get a quote.

Or you can pop down to book with us, however please call ahead to set a time if doing so as we may be busy.

What's the Booking Process?

You can book via the website or you can give us a call if it’s easier.

We simply take 30% of the booking total as a booking deposit to secure the dates which is non-refundable in case of cancellation (unless we can rebook the dates in which case a partial refund may be made at our discretion see our terms for more info). We recommend taking out travel insurance to cover you in case of illness or accident etc as you would for international travel.

The balance for hire is due 6 weeks prior to collection along with some paperwork we need for the hire. You can pay by card or bank transfer and partial instalments may be made to pay off the balance whenever you wish.

What's Your Cancellation Policy?

Unfortunately as a small business we need to protect ourselves from loss therefore booking deposits are technically non-refundable, however depending on the time until hire we may be able to partially refund or transfer the deposit as a credit towards a future booking if we are able to rebook the dates.

Once the balance is paid the hire is secured and regretfully we are unable to refund.

Again dates will be released upon cancellation and if we are able to rebook the dates without incurring a loss then we may grant a discretionary refund minus costs.

Where possible we will be as flexible as we can without taking on any losses due to cancellation.

What's Your Minimum Period?

We keep to 4 nights minimum September – May and 6 nights June – August.

If you need a shorter hire out of season or there is a short gap left available please contact us and we may be able to accommodate.

General Questions
Are You Dog Friendly?

Yes we are dog friendly in all our vehicles for an extra charge, you can add this during the booking process.

For those without four legged friends, please rest assured our vehicles are not “doggy” and cleaned to a high standard between hires.

What Time is Collection and Return?

You can think of us like a hotel, hire is by the night so our standard collection time is 2pm and return is 10:30am.

If hires allow we can extend the hire time either end for an extra charge usually £10 + Vat per hour.

Can I See the Vehicles Before Booking?

Yes as long as they are available to view just give us a call to organise a time. As they are all normally in use you may need to wait until the end of the season or arrange a viewing between hires.

There are also 3d tours available of the vehicles on the site and you can find more info on Swift’s website.

Can I Leave My Car With You?

Yes we include secure parking for your car whilst you are away as some people like to come with the car loaded and travel onwards from there.

You will need to leave a key with us if you leave a vehicle in case we need to move it.

We offer a valet service for your car whilst away:

  • £40 1.5 hour valet including exterior wash, hand polish and interior clean and vac.
  • £70 2.5 hour valet including the above plus interior wet vac, sills cleaning, glass cleaning, tyre treatment.
  • £100 4 hour valet including the above plus exterior machine polish an wax treatment, plus deeper internal clean and treatment of plastics.
Can I Camp "Off Grid" E.g. at Festivals?

Yes almost all our vehicles are fitted with solar panels on the roof and new deep cycle batteries which mean they will last a number of days without plugging in. The 3 pin sockets will not function when not plugged in so you will not be able to run standard appliances. The heating, hot water, fridge, TV and USB charging points will all function though and we include a gas kettle for those cups of tea!

You will run out of water before the batteries and we offer a festival water kit to help with this.

Do We Get a Demonstration of the Motorhome?

Yes we provide an in-person handover of the vehicle. Each hire also receives a video handover prior to collection and access to the “how to” videos we have. Plus a physical instruction booklet.
